I served in the USAF from 1968-1972+. I was released after an injury during EOD training. Went to Okinawa, in support of Project Arc Light, was sending B-52's to Nam with 500 & 750 pound bombs. I went over with 9 others from Myrtle Beach AFB SC for 180 days. Worked hard, grew up, had fun. Turned 21 while I was there.
In the gang photo I think I remember names:
L-R: Eddie Castelin, Charles "Chick" Martin(NY), James Swansiger (VA), Tom Anderson(NJ), Joe Boyette(VA), Jim Noskiviak(WS), Ronnie Roberts(AL), Tom Koenig(?), Bob Pearson(?) Where is Art Moore?
This was Cam Rahn Bay Vietnam, 1970-1971
The mission was F-4 when I arrived, they left and we flew 15,000 pounders from C-130. Army called them "daisy cutters" we called them "Cheeseburgers". We were far removed from the real war, but the constant flight of medivac choppers over the bomb dump helped keep us in tact with the war around us.
